Authored by the Catalonian mystic and occultist Vicente Beltrán-Anglada (VBA, 1915–1988),
this 2025 edition of the authorized English translation introduces his foundational work on Agni Yoga. This translation, previously published in 2017 from the original Spanish edition (1980), offers a practical and profound exploration of the mystical yet dynamic life that emerges from the intuitive heart—when the mind ceases to reflect external circumstances and aligns with its higher spiritual purpose.
For students of modern mindfulness practices, VBA’s approach to Agni Yoga reveals a striking parallel in its emphasis on constant presence of mind, or profound attentiveness, as a core discipline. Meanwhile, those studying the evolution of consciousness will discover a compelling account of VBA’s personal journey in cultivating the intuitive sense beyond the confines of rational thought.
To support deeper understanding, appendices with illustrations have been included, providing valuable context for students and scholars interested in the esoteric framework underpinning VBA’s unique perspective on Agni Yoga.
Vicente Beltrán-Anglada in North America
This book is a compilation of materials from various sources about Vicente Beltrán-Anglada’s (VBA) journey to the Fourth World Conference of the Society of Friends, held from July 24 to August 3, 1967, in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. These sources include: 1) the correspondence VBA sent to his wifely companion Leonor Tomás-Vives during his trip to the United States; 2) passages detailing some of VBA’s psychic experiences during the journey; and 3) recollections of his spiritual encounters with disciples from certain ashrams of the Spiritual Hierarchy, including the Ashram of a European Master, in which he is an accepted disciple, as well as the Ashram of Master Morya, responsible for world affairs under the direction of the Manu. These “Journey Records” provide insight into the significance of this journey for VBA’s future Ashramic work in Spain (1970-1987) and South America (1985).

“If it is so hard, my brothers, to arouse aspirants, such as yourselves, to urgent service and a full sense of responsibility; if men and women with all the information that you possess cannot be aroused to sacrificing effort, you can gain some idea of the magnitude of the task with which the Hierarchy is confronted at this time … The averting of a world debacle is the aim of our effort and towards this aim I have asked your help.” – The Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul
The Centennial Conclave: Shamballa 2025
Humanity needs a new spiritual dispensation for a post-modern world. Such revelation will emerge from the same Center where Moses received the Ten Commandments, the same Center Christ invoked at Gethsemane: the Center where the Will of God is known, SHAMBALLA.
What is Shamballa? Where did the Lord of the World — Sanat Kumara — come from? Who are the spiritual Executives under His guidance charting the course of humanity?
This book will address these questions and introduce the reader to a Centennial Conclave to be held in Shamballa in 2025. At this Conclave, a program review of the Plan for Humanity will be conducted in preparation for the externalization of the planetary spiritual Hierarchy and the imminent return of the World Teacher.
A Group of World Servers is implementing this Plan in seven major fields of service. Are you one of these servant leaders working on behalf of humanity? –The Author
Book Review
This book traces the evolution of humanity as it has become increasingly responsive to the divine will, that is to say, to Shamballa. Shamballa is a name used in ancient Eastern texts, the word and its meaning only gradually became known in the West in the last several hundred years. In esoteric teachings, we learn that Shamballa is used in connection with a once-every-century conclave, the date of the next one being 2025.
To help the reader begin to appreciate the spiritual significance of this momentous date, the author of this book outlines the entire sweep of human and cosmological evolution, including most importantly its spiritual dimensions for humanity and all the kingdoms of nature. This ambitious and finely executed undertaking is approached with scholarly rigor and spiritual insight.
The book highlights the many cultural achievements of humanity with which the educated will be familiar while placing them within the context of the spiritual energies guiding the destiny of humanity. It is therefore both a traditional history and at the same time nothing less than the spiritual and esoteric history of human evolution. The reader is taken on an intellectual and spiritual adventure that leads toward understanding the meaning and importance of the coming changes that will emerge following the conclave of Shamballa, 2025.
Cyclic Rhythm of Work
Forget not, all creative processes proceed with a cyclic rhythm. The rhythm set by the New Group of World Servers is a three year cycle and to this rhythm you will find yourself conforming. The end of one such cycle came in May, 1936. Another towards which we will proceed in a mounting crescendo of work and of success will be in May, 1939. The third will come in May, 1942. Have these dates carefully in mind and thus lay your plans for the future. Thus will you be working with the law and along the lines of least resistance.
Make each three-year cycle conform to the rhythm of creation. In the first year, lay your emphasis upon the activity of the manifesting principle, using that which appears and with which you must work. In the second year, let the clarity and the quality of the note to be sounded by the manifesting appear and be heard. In the third year, behind the form and expressing itself through the quality, let the livingness and the work of the indwelling life emerge for all to see. Bear this in mind as you consolidate the work. The keynote of the first year’s work is consolidation [C], that of the second year must be expansion [E] whilst the keynote of the third year must be the making of a definite impact [I] upon the public consciousness, by the sounding and the emphasizing of one clear note. If this cyclic measure is kept thus in mind, no serious mistakes will be made…. The New Group of World Servers must work in these three-year cycles and the foundation of cyclic attainment must be laid. This cyclic rhythm will release from strain and yet enable the workers in the Group to feel that there is no failure. It is impossible to do good work where a sense of failure or lack of attainment is found. -DINA I, 165

2025 Update
In the Alice A. Bailey books, Agni Yoga is associated with the Technique of the Presence, which we have rebranded as the Practice of the Presence, as explained in the appendices of VBA’s Introduction to Agni Yoga. In its advanced stages, this technique for dispelling illusions (mental biases) consists of:
- Sensing the Presence: Recognizing the divine essence in all forms and phenomena.
- Intuiting the Purpose: Understanding the higher purpose behind creation and evolution.
- Triple Light of Intuition: Blending personal, soul, and universal light to address world problems and aid humanity.
What, then, is the “world problem” to which we have applied our “triple light of intuition”? For years, we have endeavored to use this powerful technique to advocate for the vision of a Hierarchical Democracy—a spiritual meritocracy designed to dispel the shadows of populist demagoguery and authoritarian rule often masquerading within democratic structures. This vision calls for governance rooted in wisdom, integrity, and spiritual awareness, rather than the sway of personality or the clamor of unexamined opinions.
The Tibetan Master articulated this aspiration with striking clarity in The Rays and the Initiations (p. 746):
“True Democracy is as yet unknown; it awaits the time when an educated and enlightened public opinion will bring it to power; towards that spiritual event, mankind is hastening. The battle of Democracy will be fought out in the United States. There the people at present vote and organise their government on a personality basis and not from any spiritual or intelligent conviction.”
Inspired by this profound statement, we have taken up the mental and spiritual task of shielding humanity from the dangers of misguided governance. Through focused work on inner levels, we have sought to bring clarity, logic, and wisdom into the democratic process, aiming to “avert a world debacle.”
Our effort is not merely a reaction but a movement toward a profound transformation in human governance. It envisions a world where leadership is born from enlightened understanding and a collective commitment to the greater good, paving the way for humanity to unfold its highest spiritual potential. This is the battle that lies before us, the challenge that calls for the light of intuition, the strength of conviction, and the courage to reimagine democracy in service to the whole.
